About the event
Speaker: Niamh Bridson Hubbard
In this talk, I explore how reductions in working time during the COVID-19 pandemic - particularly through the full-furlough and flexible-furlough schemes - reshaped daily time allocation in the UK. Drawing on the CTUR Covid-19 Time-Use dataset, I examine how furlough altered patterns of unpaid labour, childcare and personal time, alongside how these shifts are associated with differences in perceived enjoyment and psychological distress. Overall, the presentation identifies clear gendered patterns of time-use, with consequences for individual’s happiness and wellbeing.
